About

Howdy — I’m Michael Klein. I’ve been building/repairing/designing/modifying pedals, amps, and hi-fi audio equipment for a while now (I built my first pedal - a fuzz - in 1997).  In retrospect, my passion for building is likely the result of loving tone, enjoying the creative process, the need to work with my hands, and perhaps most significantly controlling my mental health.

MWK started as a personal means to create and refine what I love about music and tone, but it’s grown into something that I really cherish as it's own entity. Every pedal I make, every build I start, is me trying to chase that perfect sound for that piece and, honestly, see where it takes me.

I’ve been lucky enough to meet and work with incredible people along the way — musicians, builders, and friends who taught me that the most beautiful part about MWK isn't the gear...it’s being able to experience and be a small part of the community. The support and positivity from everyone who’s followed MWK has been one of the most meaningful things in my life, and it’s a significant contributor to what keeps me building and experimenting.

This site is me taking a deep breath, praying to Skeletor, putting my work out there, and seeing what happens. My hope is to regularly post batches of pedals, create a simple interface for amp modifications, and hopefully simplify future amp orders.  While that seems like a lot to me, I'm reminding myself that all of it is a natural progression that is made with the same curiosity and care that’s driven me from the start.

Thanks for checking this out and deciding to spend your time here. I appreciate every one of you more than you know.

Hails!
